The Mustangs will now take a week off before they begin their biggest challenge of the season – Three Rivers District play. In fact, their first opponent will be the Radford Bobcats.

Last season, the Mustangs stunned the Bobcats at home, 42-10. The win helped the team to earn a playoff position in Region C, Division 1.

Auburn dropped their third straight contest of the season after a tough 26-0 loss on Friday to the Narrows Green Wave.

The Eagles (1-3) were led in defeat by Jacob Mullins, who rushed for 71 yards on 17 carries. Auburn’s main offensive weapons for the most part were held in check. Senior Michael Spencer rushed for -10 yards and had one receiving yard.

Eagle’s quarterback Zac Blankenship completed three of eight passes for 16 yards and an interception.

The first half of play would belong to Narrow’s running back Dustin Blankenship. He would open the scoring with a 1-yard run just before the end of the first quarter, giving the Green Wave a 7-0 lead after the extra point.

Blankenship added another touchdown in the second quarter at the 2:16 mark with a four yard scamper. Another extra point and Narrows held a 14-0 lead heading into the halftime break.

Narrow’s Hunter Light would take the opening kickoff of the second half 80 yards for the touchdown. A missed extra point left the game with a score of 20-0 in favor of the Green Wave.

Auburn just couldn’t get anything going, as the Green Wave only allowed 82 yards of total offense. Tyler Conley would finish off the scoring in the third quarter and game by adding another touchdown to the board, as he ran 13 yards for a score.

The Eagles will look to end their three game losing streak this Friday, as they travel to Buena Vista to play Parry McCluer. The Blues are winless this season, losing to Randolph-Henry (18-6), Altavista Combined School (37-6), Glenvar (21-6), Riverheads (47-8), and Buffalo Gap (27-14). They have played four of their five games on the road, minus the Altavista game.

Auburn lost to the Blues on the road last season, 34-20. McCluer was also winless coming into that game.
